Murder investigation launched after man stabbed in the neck in Milton Keynes

The man, who is yet to be named, was stabbed in the neck in a property in Clay Hill on Two Mile Ash on Saturday morning..

Paramedics battled to save him and an air ambulance was called ready to airlift him to hospital. But tragically he died at the scene.

Police initially treated his death as "unexplained" but on Sunday night, following the results of a post mortem, they launched a murder investigation.

Two people, a a 49-year-old woman from Milton Keynes and 24-year-old man from Nuneaton were arrested on Saturday and are currently in police custody.

The case has now been handed to the Major Crime Unit, whose Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Sally Spencer said: “Following the conclusion of the post-mortem, we can now confirm that this is a murder investigation."

She added: “I would like to re-assure the community that we are working around the clock to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and there remains a scene-watch in place at the property.

“Naturally, there will be concern at such an incident, but there will be a continued increased police presence and house to house enquiries while investigations continue.

The victim is the fifth person in MK to die of stab wounds over the past four and a half months..

On October 19 two 17-year-old boys, ​Dom Ansah and Ben Gillham-Rice​, died after an incident at a ​​house party in Archford Croft, Emerson Valley​.

Then, on December 11, ​Mohamud Hashi, aged 22​, was stabbed in his thigh​​ during an altercation in the middle of the afternoon near the overbridge that leads to Fishermead ​to​ ​Central ​Milton Keynes.

The same month, on New Year's Eve, 22-year-old Jefferey Wiafe was stabbed in the chest in the street, again in broad daylight, in Carradine Crescent on Oxley Park.

In all these cases, police have arrested suspects and they are awaiting trial.
