Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a road traffic collision between an invalid scooter and a moped being illegally ridden on a Redway in Milton Keynes.

At 11am last Thursday a 65-year-old man was riding his scooter along Garraways towards Jonathons on Coffee Hall, when he saw two people come around the corner, one on a moped and one on a pushbike.

The moped then collided with the victim’s scooter, with such force that the man was ejected from his seat onto the pavement.

The rider of the moped fled the scene. The victim was treated for shock at the scene but required no hospital treatment.

Sgt Simon Hills of Milton Keynes police station said: “This could have had very serious consequences had it been a small child or a more vulnerable adult using the Redway.

“We would also urge all parents to ensure they know what their children are up to during the holidays. There are increased reports of illegal riding on the Redway system which could lead to a serious collision.”
