Police enforce Section 60 order for 24 hours in Milton Keynes after teen is assaulted by gang armed with knives and baseball bats

The order will be active for 24 hours, starting from 3pm today, and will be applicable to the entire borough of Milton Keynes.

The activation of the order is in response to an incident which occurred just after midnight in Kingsfold, Bradville, where it was reported that there was a group of offenders armed with weapons, believed to be knives and baseball bats.

A 17-year-old boy was hit to the head leaving him unconscious. He was taken to hospital where he remains.

Inspector Mark Lacey, of Milton Keynes police station, said: “The force has authorised a Section 60 order after this incident that took place just after midnight, whereby a group of offenders were seen to be in possession of weapons, and a 17-year-old was knocked unconscious.

“Section 60 orders enhance officers powers to stop and search, allowing them to search people without needing to suspect that they may be carrying weapons.

“The order is put in place to prevent further violence from happening, and the decision to implement the order is not taken lightly. It is in place for 24 hours, but it can be extended further if deemed necessary.

“I would encourage the public to feel reassured that this order is being put into place rather than alarmed, and if anyone wishes to speak to an officer then please do so.
