Police warn of 'aggressive' rogue traders pestering residents in parts of Milton Keynes

Police are warning of persistent rogue traders who are knocking on doors looking for work.

The men are currently targeting the Tattenhoe and Shenley areas of MK, and residents have reported they can become insistent and even quite aggressive in their sales tactics.

One of the services they offer is jet-washing driveways, charging up to £200.

"They were persistent when the work was declined by a resident," said a spokesman for MK Trading Standards department, which is investigating the incidents.

"Please do not deal with cold callers. Report them to us on 0808 223 1133," he said.

Police are also investigating and have written to residents urging them to beware.

A police spokesman said: "MKSouthNHPT have been made aware of an increase in rogue traders scouting for work in the Tattenhoe and Shenley areas."

He added: "If you have somebody knock on your door and they become aggressive please report it to 101 or 999 in emergencies. It’s important the incident is also reported to trading standards.

We do not recommend buying from doorstep sales unless they are Trading Standards approved. We will be completing a letter drop today in the targeted areas and paying regular patrols."
