Teenager sexually assaulted in morning attack

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a sexual assault in Heelands on Wednesday morning.

At around 8.15am, a 13-year-old girl and her friend were walking on the Redway running parallel with Stainton Drive between Hetton Close and Linton Close, when they were approached by a man who touched the girl’s chest inappropriately before running off.

The man is described as white, in his early twenties, 5ft 9ins or 5ft 10ins, slim, with short brown spiked hair. He was wearing dark grey low-slung jeans and a grey baggy top. He had a cigarette behind one ear and an earring in his left ear.

Det Sgt Philip Walsh, investigating, said: “The girl was not injured but has been left understandably very upset by the incident. We’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anyone matching the description in the area or has any other information which may assist us with our investigation.”

“Officers will be carrying out extra patrols in the area to help reassure the community.”
