Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a bicycle was stolen and the owner was assaulted last Friday.

At about 5.50pm, a 30-year-old man went into a chemist on Melrose Avenue in Bletchley, leaving his bike outside. He was followed inside by a man, who spoke to a second man already inside the store. The second man then left the store, got on the victim’s bike, and rode off.

The victim left the store and chased the man on his bike but could not catch him. He went back to the shops and approached a group of people outside, which included the man who had followed him into the shop originally.

The victim confronted the man, who pushed him and punched him in the face. Other men in the group then joined in the assault.

The victim sustained a cut to his lip which required stitches. His bike has since been returned to him.

Anyone who witnessed the altercation should contact PC Mark Underwood via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to police or leave your name, call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
