Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery in the Hodge Lea area of Milton Keynes.

At about 1.30pm on Wednesday, a man entered Hodge Lea Food and Wine in Brookside with his face covered and demanded a wallet from one of the sales assistants.

He then produced a machete and demanded money from the till from a second sales assistant, a 22-year-old man.

After being given the cash, the offender made off from the shop on foot.

Det Sgt Neil Robinson, investigating the incident, said: “This was a nasty incident in which the threat of violence was used to intimidate the victims.

“The robber had his face covered, with just his eyes showing and appeared to leave on foot. I would urge anyone who saw him making off or someone acting suspiciously in the area at the time to contact Milton Keynes CID on the non-emergency 101 number, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
