Woman jailed for child cruelty and battery after assaulting baby girl in Milton Keynes
A woman has been sentenced to prison for a year and nine months after repeatedly assaulting a baby girl in Milton Keynes.
Ramana Potumudi, aged 58, of no fixed abode, has been sentenced for child cruelty and battery in Milton Keynes, following an incident last year.
Police say that Potumudi repeatedly assaulted a young baby girl in Milton Keynes, on November 27 2025. Fortunately, the young victim did not suffer any injuries.
Potumudi was arrested on December 21 and subsequently charged the same day.

The offender pleaded guilty to one count of assault/ill treatment/neglect/abandonment of child/young person to cause unnecessary suffering/injury at Aylesbury Crown Court on January 21 2026.
At the same court on Tuesday, June 9, Potumudi was sentenced to one year and nine months of imprisonment.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Aimee Mortimer-Bush said: “I am pleased that Ramana Potumudi has taken responsibility for the serious harm she caused to a tiny, defenceless baby which luckily did not result in injuries.
“I would like to thank the victim’s family for coming forward to bring justice in this case. Sadly, we have seen all too many instances in recent times of children being harmed by the very people who should be keeping them safe.
“I hope with this sentence sends a strong message to the public that Thames Valley Police will continue to investigate crimes of this nature robustly.
“I would urge anyone who is concerned about the welfare of a child to report it to the police or NSPCC.”
