Antiques expert David Dickinson was surrounded by bobby dazzlers when he brought the Real Deal to Milton Keynes at the weekend.
Dozens dusted off their most valuable items in the hope of being quids in when the ITV show filmed at Stantonbury Lesiure Centre on Saturday.
Dealers on the day were in their element when a pair of Rolls Royce cufflinks, novelty ice buckets and vintage watches were brought onto the television set.
A Rolex, vintage golf balls and a beautiful art deco figure of a glamorous lady went to auction.
Speaking exclusively to the Citizen, David said: “I had a smashing day in Milton Keynes.
“Just under £4000 in hard cash swapped hands between my dealers and the locals who came along, and almost a quarter of that went to one person who sold a set of old sovereign rings.
“Not bad for a day’s work, is it?
“This is the first time the show has ever come to this part of Buckinghamshire, but I promise you we’ll be back as soon as we can!”
Vera Lowe, theatre and events manager at Stantonbury Arts & Leisure Trust, said: “We were delighted that RDF Television chose Stantonbury Leisure Centre as the venue for filming Dickinson’s Real Deal in Milton Keynes.
“It was lovely to have the charismatic David “The Duke” Dickinson here along with the four dealers and the rest of the team.
“It was a fascinating day watching the filming of the TV programme.
“We hope that the public who were chosen to sit down with the dealer and go in front of the camera were pleased with their deals and those who chose to go to auction have a great day out with The Duke.”
It is hoped that the Dickinson’s Real Deal is one of many high profile shows to come to the leisure centre, as the newly formed trust, which incorporates the Stantonbury Leisure Centre, Stantonbury Theatre and the members gym GYMMK, aims to bring more leisure activities to Milton Keynes.
Newly elected councillor for Stantonbury Alex Walker (pictured above) joined the leisure centre in celebrating a famous face coming to town.
Councillor Walker said: “It is great that the trust has been able to attract the Real Deal and allow us to showcase Stantonbury and Milton Keynes.
“Let’s hope this is just the start, as more and more people see the venue’s potential.”
