Day in the park for volunteers

Sixty staff from PwC in Milton Keynes volunteered their time for local community projects in support of the firm's UK-wide charity day.

The company’s One Firm One Day, which took place on Friday, May 20, is a dedicated volunteering day that takes place every year.

It gives staff the chance to take part in a range of activities to support their local communities and raise funds for the PwC Foundation, a registered charity that promotes social inclusion and sustainable development in the UK.

Staff in Milton Keynes volunteered for The Parks Trust, an independent charity that preserves, grows and enhances the green spaces around Milton Keynes. It maintains 5,000 acres of land, holding 200 events in the parks each year and provides environmental education in schools to around 6,000 children.

The volunteers spent a full day at the park, painting fences, repaving paths with woodchip and picking up litter.

Ruby Parmar, senior office partner at PwC in Milton Keynes, said: “Working with the local community around our Milton Keynes office has been part of our culture for many years. It’s an integral part of being a responsible business and creates value for our communities and for us”
