Dig in for Archeology fun at Milton Keynes Library

There’s no need to dig deep for fun - television’s Paul Blinkhorn will be at Milton Keynes Library on Saturday as part of the nationwide Festival of Archaeology.

Paul Blinkhorn, who is best known for appearing on Time Team and Pub Dig, will talk about local archaeology and will give a short talk on medieval pottery from the Milton Keynes area.

Ros Tyrrell, from the Portable Antiquities Scheme, will also be present, identifying any artefacts and objects the public bring in. There will also be a display of found objects in the area, with metal detectorists from local clubs on hand to talk about responsible metal detecting.

Diggers from Cotswold Archaeology will be there to talk about local sites.

Nicky Powell of Cotswold Archaeology said: “There’s nothing an archaeologist likes to do more, when they’re not digging, than talking about what they do and what they’ve found.

“Milton Keynes has a rich archaeological heritage going back to the Neolithic. We hope people will drop in, get involved and make this an annual event.”
