Disability event is a showcase of achievement

Inspirational talents will be showcased at MK Disability Awareness Day's Picnic in the Park on Saturday, July 16.

British Paralympic sportswoman Anna Turney will bring her energy to the day, along with city-­based British archery Paralympian Valerie Williamson.

Visitors can try over a dozen sports led by MK Dons Sports and Education Trust, as well as archery from Newport Pagnell Archers, yoga, crafts and face­ painting.

There will be dance from Neon, music from Haddon Beats, drumming from Warriors, and performances from the Glee Club, Encompass, MK Snap Choir and Camphill.

There will also be an an exhibition of art by people with disabilities, including mouth artist Keith Jansz.

Chair of MK DAD, Debbie Brock, said: “Disability Awareness Day sets out to show that everybody has abilities. There are remarkable things that people with disabilities can achieve and MK DAD showcases all that potential.”

The free event is from 2pm to 6pm at Walnut Tree playing field and MK Snap.
