A CITY doctor, who specialises in ankle and foot injury treatment, is working with the world’s best rowers and canoeists at the London 2012 Olympics as a volunteer.

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Ahmed Malik, who has practices at BMI Saxon Clinic, has already worked on some of the pre-Games training sessions and is now preparing himself for five more days of fierce competition.

Based at the Eton Dorney site on the banks of the Thames, Mr Malik said he has been astounded by the whole Olympic set up.

He said: “We have been providing treatment for all kinds of conditions, from orthopaedic sports injuries to things as simple as sunstroke.

“The key thing is getting these Olympians better and back in competition where they belong. It is such an exciting time for the whole country and I am proud and honoured to be a part of the whole Olympic experience.”
