A crown of cod could await a Milton Keynes chippie, after the restaurant was shortlisted to be named as Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year
Fish & Chips in Broughton was shortlisted for the prestigious gong after going through a rigorous judging process. This has seen them get assessed on everything from product quality and sustainable sourcing policies, to marketing initiatives and customer service.
Now the team are heading to the final showdown on Tuesday, where they will hope to batter the opposition while facing a panel of specialist industry and media judges.
Restaurant owner Stephen Wilding said: “As a small family-run fish and chip shop we share ambitious aspirations and are passionate about our business.
“It is extremely rewarding to know our hard work has paid off and that we are representing our whole region at the national final.
“We are a very traditional fish and chip shop – our aim is to produce good quality food to the best of our ability. All our products are responsibly sourced from the best producers. We like to inform our customers about where our fish comes from, how many calories are in their meal and anything else they would like to know.
“We even encourage the local children to come into the shop and see how our chips are fried – they get really excited. We have some of the best customers and have built a personal relationship with them over the years. They have been very supportive and we are thankful to them for that.”
The National Fish & Chip Awards recognises the best talent, quality and choice offered by fish and chip businesses across the UK.
