A WOMAN is counting her blessings after her dog was rescued from a frozen lake.
Sally Major, from Ashland, was out walking her three Staffordshire Bull Terriers on Monday, December 20, close to Caldecote Lake, when she turned back from taking a phone call and noticed the youngest of the three, Alfie, had fallen through the frozen lake.
Sally said: “I cannot express the panic and fear that was going through my mind. I was calling my dog begging him to keep trying and to not give up.”
Fortunately, Sally spotted a fellow dog walker across the lake who sprinted round, made the emergency call and dragged the dog out of the water.
Sally said: “I want this to be a warning to others and I want to find this young man because if he wasn’t there I dread to think what could have happened to Alfie.”
