Domino's pizza plan falls flat after protest in Milton Keynes

Health-conscious residents have won their battle to keep Domino's Pizza out of their town.

The pizza giants sought planning permission to open an outlet in a former off licence in Woburn Sands.

Townspeople objected on the grounds that it was too close to a school and would cause traffic and parking problems.

They also said there were more than enough fast food outlets in Woburn Sands already.

Councillors on the Development Control Committee agreed with them and last week refused the application.

The committee heard councillors had visited the area for a site meeting – but several of them found it impossible to park.

“It proved our point beautifully!” said one resident.
