MK Dons assistant manager John Gorman and the first team squad have joined city foster carers and Milton Keynes Council to back a carer recruitment campaign.
This action coincides with National Foster Care fortnight which runs from May 14 to May 27.
Nationally foster care is under pressure with the number of children entering care rising for the 5th consecutive year and we have an aging foster care workforce with two thirds likely to retire in the next 10 years.
The Fostering Network estimate we will need at least 8,750 more foster families in the UK in 2012 alone to meet the demands of the rising number of children entering care and to replace foster carers who leave for various reasons.
Under the strap line ‘Fostering: time to care’ the Milton Keynes Council Fostering team will be running a local ‘drop in’ on May 17 in their reception area in Saxon Court, 502 Avebury Boulevard Central Milton Keynes from 6pm to 7pm for anyone who would like to have an informal chat about becoming a foster carer.
Please feel free to call in at the drop in evening to discuss how you could change the life of a young person or call the fostering duty line on 01908 253206.
