'˜Don't Hate - Educate' is the message from Milton Keynes' Youth Cabinet

The event was organised by Milton Keynes’ Youth Cabinet under the national Don’t Hate Educate campaign, run by the UK Youth Parliament.

More than 50 young people attended the event, which included workshops hosted by local people from the Tamil and Middle Eastern Islamic communities, as well as one on Jewish culture.

The Youth Cabinet also ran a workshop about discrimination.

The event closed with an explanation on Hate Crime and how to report it by Colin Wilderspin, head of Community Safety in Milton Keynes.

“The event was really interesting and I learned a lot about different cultures and religions. I was able to ask lots of questions to local people which I wouldn’t get to do in school,” said Amber Saunders, one of Milton Keynes two Members of Youth Parliament (MK North).
