Road restrictions will be put in place on Olney Road, Lavendon this week as part of repair work to a drain, weakened by summer flooding.
This will involve the road being reduced to a single lane on this particular section with signage in place to direct traffic.
The reconstruction is essential to ensure the safety of road users along the route.
It is thought the work will continue into next year with restrictions in place until then.
Councillor John Bint, Portfolio Holder for Transport and Highways said: “The replacement of this weakened culvert will not only ensure the safety of road users but also by installing a larger culvert it should assist in reducing the risk of flooding to nearby properties.”
