The accident caused substantial structural damage to the home of Gladys King, 90, who was sat in her living room watching TV at the time of the collision. Sadly Mrs King has since died but her family wanted Police to publicise details of the investigation and subsequent conviction and sentence of the driver Carl Tricks.

Tricks, 38, of Redhouse Park, Milton Keynes, was found guilty of one count of drink-driving at a hearing at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court last Thursday, (Feb 23).

The court heard he crashed his Audi vehicle into the front of a property in Abbey Way, Bradville, just before 9pm on Friday June 17,last year,

Tricks provided a breath test which showed 111 micrograms of alcohol.

Tricks was arrested and charged with the offence the following day.

Investigating officer, PC Linford Baxter of the Roads Policing department, said:“This incident caused substantial structural damage to the home of the victim, Gladys King, who was sat in her living room watching television at the time of the collision. 90-year-old Gladys King suffered shock due to the incident.

“Sadly, since the incident, Gladys King has died, but her family wanted the Force to publicise details of its investigation and the subsequent conviction and sentence of Tricks.

“After making off from the scene, Tricks was located nearby and arrested.

“Tricks, who was in possession of the vehicle’s keys at the time of his arrest, provided a positive breath test at the roadside. At the police station later that evening, Tricks then provided a further breath test that was three times over the legal limit.

“The incident shocked the local community because it transpired that Tricks had been drinking alcohol at a pub before deciding to drive his car that day.

“I hope this incident is a deterrent to any other motorists who are considering driving their vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs; it really isn’t worth the risk and motorists should make other arrangements to get home if they want to enjoy a few drinks on a night out.”

Tricks was also given a curfew for 18 weeks.
