Drivers from this morning's M1 crash near Milton Keynes 'miraculously' escaped with cuts and bruises

The drivers involved in the motorway lorry crash that caused carnage on the M1 this morning have walked away with nothing more than cuts and bruises.

Three lanes of the motorway between junctions 12 and 13 were closed this morning after the two HGVs were involved in a collision at around 5.30am.

The accident happened just after after junction 12 for the A5120 Harlington Road and Flitwick.

Traffic was queuing for at least three miles on the northbound carriageway and the slip road was partially blocked.

BCP (Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Herts) Road Policing Unit attended the scene and tweeted photos of the wreckage.

A BCP spokesman said: "Dealing with a serious collision on the M1 Northbound... Avoid if you can."

He added: "You won’t believe it from the photos but both drivers have escaped with cuts and bruises."
