Drone's eye view of wreckage after Stony Stratford fire

Fire chiefs have flown a drone over the wreckage of the Stony fire in a bid to discover what caused it.

The wreckage of all three building is still too unsafe for even expert investigators to enter, but the drone’s highly detailed photos could provide vital clues.

Kind-hearted officers have also examined the photos for evidence of little Wally, the dachshund still missing from the house where the blaze began on Sunday afternoon.

Wally’s canine companion Widget, known as Wiggy, was rescued by passer-by Jack Gallagher, who broke the wooden door down to gain access after he hear a dog barking.

Jack also rescued a cat, but could see no sign of a second dog.

Owners Helen and Dick Post, who were out when the fire broke out, hope Wally made a bolt for safety. They have appealed for people to check he is not hiding, terrified, elsewhere in town.

The family beleive the fire must have started by an electrical fault.

A Bucks Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Our drone is providing invaluable information to the fire investigation as it is able to see into parts of the site that are too dangerous for people to go into.”
