The discovery was made following the Dons game against Tranmere on January 15, which the home side won 2-0.

Police carried out a search of the box after being called to the scene by suspicious staff.

Officers are now working with the club to find the culprits.

PC Jim O’Brien, football liaison officer for Milton Keynes, said: “On January 15, 2011 concerns were raised about the behaviour of some people in one of the hospitality boxes.

“In response to this, we used the drugs itemiser in the box after the match.

“Traces of Class A drugs were found and we are continuing to work with the club on our further investigations.

“We would like to thank the club for their vigilance and for being proactive in raising their concerns with the police.”

A spokesman for Milton Keynes Dons said: “We are aware of an incident that occurred at the stadium on January 15 and are continuing to assist the police with their investigations.”
