People using the Central Milton Keynes library can now use the variety of services on a Sunday between 11am and 2pm.
The new opening hours come after a public consultation and form part of a review of the Library Service, which is looking to include the change in public demand.
Westcroft and Kingston libraries have also extended their opening hours to include Sundays, from 11am to 2pm.
One customer, Eva Castro, said: “To open on a Sunday is a great idea, as it is the day I am most likely to visit the library.”
Councillor David Hopkins, cabinet member for economic development and enterprise, said: “It is wonderful to see Central Milton Keynes Library being used to its full potential every day of the week. The Library Service isn’t just about providing an array of books for all ages, but offers reading groups for adults, storytimes for children, weekly job clubs and special library services for those with physical and learning difficulties.”
To celebrate the Library’s Sunday opening, Milton Keynes’ Poet Laureate, Mark Neil, wrote a poem entitled ‘For Three Hours Only’, which can be read on the website.
The new opening hours for all libraries in Milton Keynes can be found on the Milton Keynes Library Service webpage.
