Monarch Airlines put smiles on the faces of 140 schoolchildren from Fulbrook Middle School last week - and flew them on the day trip of a lifetime, to Dubrovnik!

Fulbrook - in Woburn Sands - was one of three schools selected by Monarch’s nationwide appeal to make education fun.

And their day of high-flying action was most certainly that - the youngsters were treated to a day looking around the ancient city walls, following a history lesson in the air.

“It’s been a challenge organising a trip to Dubrovnik for 140 pupils in such a short time,” said head teacher Stephen Cardwell.

“However, it was all worth it to see the look on the children’s faces.

We’d all like to thank Monarch for coming up with this super idea of the best day trip ever and giving the children a wonderful day,” he added.

The jetset lifestyle, from Birmingham to Dubrovnik and back again, went down well with the pupils, and the airline was pleased with the reception.

“Fulbrook Middle School is such a deserving winner and the spirit of the children was fantastic,” said Kevin George, managing director of Monarch Airlines.

“Our appeal has received a phenomenal response and it’s certainly something that we will consider offering other schools in the future.”
