An engineering apprentice in Milton Keynes is calling on young people to make their dream career come true by following in his footsteps.
Lukasz Luczka was selected by Amazon for an apprenticeship in Milton Keynes through its apprenticeship programme and now works at their as an reliance maintenance engineer apprentice.
He has urged other young people to apply for an apprenticeship during National Apprenticeship Week.
Lukasz joined Amazon in 2011 and started his four-year course in 2016 on a programme of study at Bedford College and work-based assessments at the site in Marston Gate.
He said: “After several jobs in manufacturing and construction, I realised that I wanted to formalise my love for engineering through a qualification. It was at this time that I learned about the Amazon apprenticeship programme and I decided to apply.
“I joined the programme because it offered a good mix of learning and hands-on experience. I really enjoy the practical element of the programme – working with my team, on site, at Amazon in Milton Keynes. That’s the best part for me. Working together to understand how the site is running and putting the things we learn into practice to make sure everything operates smoothly.
“The thing that really appeals to me about the apprenticeship programme is the opportunity for continuous learning and career development. Working at Amazon has given me the opportunity to challenge myself, gain new skills and push me to achieve new goals and discover new possibilities.
“If you’re thinking about applying for an apprenticeship programme, then my advice would be to do it without hesitation. It’s a fantastic way to get the best qualifications while learning in a practical environment and I’ve loved every minute of the programme since joining in 2016.”
As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Amazon has announced that it will be recruiting a further 170 apprentices in fulfilment centres across the UK. There are opportunities to join apprenticeship schemes in Operations, IT and Engineering in fulfilment centres across the UK. Applications for the Apprenticeship schemes are open until the end of June.
Amazon’s Apprenticeship schemes are designed to suit candidates with a range of experience, from those with life skills to school leavers who are 18+ with GCSEs or A-levels. *
