Flood alert issued by Environment Agency for parts for Milton Keynes

The Environment agency has warned people in MK to be prepared for flooding if the rainfall gets worse.

The stretch of River Great Ouse from Newport Pagnell to Roxton in Bedfordshire has been placed on flood alert today.

"Flooding is possible - be prepared," states the government website.

It adds: "River levels are falling at the Newport Pagnell Cemetery river gauge, however are continuing to rise downstream, as a result of recent rainfall. Consequently, flooding of low lying roads and farmland is possible.

"We expect flooding to affect the River Great Ouse from Newport Pagnell to Roxton... We expect river levels to continue to rise downstream of the Newport Pagnell river gauge. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."
