Janice said: “If you have a back garden, then you can keep chickens.

“It is that simple and spring is an ideal time to get started.

“What could be better than sharing your garden with a few fun-loving and mischievous hens?

“I guarantee they will keep you entertained for hours – and just think, you could soon be baking and/or cooking with your very own supply of delicious free-range eggs laid just for you by your new feathered friends.”

The national charity is well-known for its pioneering work in rehoming commercial laying hens and, through its nationwide team of more than 450 volunteers has found homes for more than 500,000 hens since 2005.

As well as finding homes for hens, the charity also educates the public on how they can make a difference to hen welfare through their shopping basket and eating habits.
