With Fiz from Coronation Street presenting our Pride in MK awards later this year, the atmosphere is bubbling with excitement here at the Citizen.

Actress Jennie McAlpine will be at our gala awards evening at the Hilton Hotel in Kents Hill Park on Friday, October 4.

However, the real guests of honour will be our wonderful nominators, nominees and sponsors.

Your nominations for this year’s awards are very much welcome, and the categories are described below.

Meanwhile we are still seeking a sponsor for one of the awards, Fundraiser of the Year. Anyone interested should get in touch as soon as possible.

Young Achiever of the Year, sponsored by Marshall, is for somebody under the age of 21 who has achieved great things over recent months.

The Safer MK Award, sponsored by Safer MK, will recognise people who devote time to make their community safe.

The Friendly Neighbour Award, sponsored by The Parks Trust, seeks to recognise those who have improved the lives of people around them, while Service with a Smile, sponsored by Domino’s Pizza, is searching for somebody who goes that extra mile in customer service.

Fundraiser of the Year will recognise the achievements of people who raise money for others, while Excellence in Education, sponsored by University Campus Milton Keynes, will reward the efforts of any individual or team involved in education.

Outstanding Example of Bravery, sponsored by Milton Keynes Christian Foundation, is searching for outstanding examples of courage, and Care in the Community, sponsored by Ikea, recognises those who have cared for others without thought for themselves.

Unsung Hero/Heroine, sponsored by MK Foundation, is for people who are not recognised for their years of commitment.

The final award, People’s Choice, is sponsored by Western Power Distribution, and will be decided by a public vote from the judging panel’s shortlist.

You can nominate an individual or team for any of these awards online at www2.miltonkeynestoday.co.uk/pride2013
