MILTON Keynes Council’s trading standards team seized hundreds of counterfeit items this weekend at the packed out JLS concert.

Officers made sure their presence was felt at the end of the sellout concert, at stadium:mk, following various tip offs about people selling fake Foo Fighters items at their sellout concert at The MK Bowl the week before.

In total TS officers seized some 470 counterfeit posters along with dozens of items of clothing, illegally sporting the JLS trademarks.

MKC’s Head of Trading Standards Karen Ford said: “There was a lot of activity round the venue with rogues trying to sell counterfeit clothing and posters. In some instances the criminals just dumped the gear and ran away.

“Our officers worked diligently in unpleasant weather conditions to make sure not only the brand was protected but also that visitors were able to get safely and quickly away from the stadium.”

The fake clothing has been destroyed as the logos could not be removed and the posters are being sent for recycling.

Karen Ford added: “This repeats our clear message that only lawful traders are allowed in Milton Keynes and we will keep up this work to ensure local businesses are protected.”

Meanwhile anyone who spots any fake items being sold should contract Trading Standards on 08454 04 05 06.
