Falls Prevention service launched in Milton Keynes

Cllr Pete Marland, leader of Milton Keynes Council, officially opened the new Milton Keynes Community based Falls Prevention service on Monday.

This new service, run by B-Well Therapy Limited, will augment services already in place.

It will provide assessments, treatments and offer advice to people who have fallen or may be at risk of having a fall, with the aim of improving their health and wellbeing and reducing the likelihood of them falling.

Falling can result in an older person seriously injuring themselves and needing to stay in hospital. Sometimes the falls can permanently reduce their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

“I am passionate about falls prevention and am moving to introduce 10 minute regular exercises for each individual along with our exercise classes in five different locations in Milton Keynes,” said Venkat Tikkireddi, Director at B-Well Therapy Limited.

“We are aiming to put into practice research showing exercise can only be effective.”

Cllr Pete Marland, Leader of Milton Keynes Council and Chair of the Health and Wellbeing Board said: “This new service is a key addition to the community health and wellbeing services already provided in Milton Keynes by both the Council and Central and North West London.
