Family fun as nursery raises cash to stay open

West End preschool now has to raise another £1,500 and has set up a Just Giving page.

The Wolverton nursery was recently rocked after a change of committee and a direct debit blunder left it unexpectedly £2,000 in the red.

The family fun day was organised at short notice by the new committee, with local businesses pledging support and services for free.

West End spokesman Nancy Pyburn said: “We managed to raise £551, which is amazing, and the day was a great success.

“However we are still £1,500 short of our target to stay afloat and we don’t have much time now to get this money.”
