A very famous voice was heard broadcasting live from a local radio station last week
Radio legend Tony Blackburn, who celebrated 50 years of broadcasting last year, visited Milton Keynes-based Cashino Gaming and Beacon Bingo last Thursday, to broadcast live on its customer radio station, Jackpot FM.
He also prasied staff and customers for their efforts in helping to raise nearly £500,000 for CHIPS – a charity founded by the gaming industry which provides specialised powered wheelchairs for young people with severe mobility problems.
Tony was live on air from 2pm to 4pm. Broadcasting across the nine Beacon Bingo Clubs, 150 Cashino adult gaming centres and seaside centres, he spoke about his radio career and provided ‘shout outs’ to customers and staff.
Cashino and Beacon Bingo have presented 81 custom-built wheelchairs to children since 2005.
Tony said: “I believe organisations which dedicate time to raising money for such deserving charities, such as CHIPS, should certainly receive recognition for their efforts and I hope my visit has helped to raise awareness of this fantastic accomplishment by Cashino and Beacon Bingo.”
