But when Wolverton resident Heather Bradley looked out of her window last week, she was shocked to see a figure moving around in hers.

Worried that she was being burgled, Heather’s partner rushed to confront the unwelcome visitor, and discovered a man had been using the shed as a home - he had even brought in a single mattress in to sleep on!

“...and he had been using the area as a toilet, and left bags and newspapers containing faeces all around the garden.

“It was disgusting, and the stench is awful,” Heather said.

“He told my partner his girlfriend had kicked him out of their home.”

“Our property had been piled up and he had been smoking inside too - despite us having stored a gas cylinder there,” said Heather.

The police have told Heather they could charge the man with trespass but there is little more they can do.

“I sympathise with the homeless, and everyone deserves a second chance, but to come into someone’s property and disrespect it like this has left me feeling scared in my own home,” added Heather, who has now padlocked the shed to prevent further unwelcome visits.
