Thyroid disease is one of the most under-diagnosed diseases in the UK, affecting one in 20 people.

Symptoms include tiredness, sensitivity to cold, weight gain, constipation, depression, slow movements and thoughts, muscle aches and weakness, muscle cramps, dry and scaly skin, brittle hair and nails, loss of libido, pain, numbness and a tingling sensation in the hand and fingers (carpal tunnel syndrome) and irregular or heavy periods.

Everyone is welcome at the information event, which is being held in the sports pavilion at The Open University from 10.30am. The guest speaker, GP Sohair Roked, will be talking about the thyroid and signing copies of her book, The Tiredness Cure.

Free entry, tea and coffee provided, donation of £2 suggested to cover costs.
