A boy had to be released by firefighters after getting his finger stuck in a drain-hole while at Willen Lake on Saturday.

He had trapped himself in a pedalo’s drain, which he was trying to unblock while working at the Water Sports Centre.

Chris Haysey, Willen Lake Outdoor Pursuits and Watersports Centre Manager, said: “Whilst cleaning a pedalo in our compound a member of our seasonal staff got his finger stuck while trying to remove some debris inside the drain hole.

“We were unable to release his finger ourselves so called the emergency services who released him, uninjured, using a disc-cutter and saws.

“This was a very unusual incident and although there is an extremely low probability of this happening again we will be looking at our cleaning regimes.”
