Firefighters rescue dog walker stuck in river

A woman who waded into a river to rescue her dog had to be rescued herself by a crew of firefighters.

The woman was walking her six dogs when one became stuck in the Great Ouse at the back of New Bradwell allotments.

She waded in but became stuck, waist-deep, in the muddy water.

A passer-by raised the alarm and two fire engines and the specialist Water Rescue Unit rushed to the scene.

Firefighters wearing lifejackets used wading poles to help the woman to safety.
