Firefighters strike for 24 hours in Milton Keynes

Firefighters in Milton Keynes have gone on strike this morning, and will remain so for 24 hours, in a continuing row with Government over pensions.

The strike began this morning at 9am and firefighters will not return to work until 9am tomorrow morning (Friday).

The Fire Brigades Union also announced there is another strike planned on Saturday, June 21 from 10 am to 5pm.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service insist it has plans which enable it to continue to provide an emergency response in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes during periods of industrial action.

A spokesman said: “Emergency calls where lives are at risk will be prioritised, and Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service will continue to provide as much information as possible to help people avoid having a fire or other emergency.

“The information is designed to help you stay safe during strike periods and at all other times too.”
