Staff, pupils and parents are bidding a fond farewell to a dedicated headteacher.
Retiring Thornton College headmistress Agnes Williams was treated to a leaving event recently to celebrate her 18 years in the position.
She said: “I’ve been here nearly half my working life and I can’t really believe it’s come to my last assembly and my last chapel service.
“You know when you’re little and you don’t want to do something and it goes on and on but when you’re doing something fun it goes by in a flash? Well, Thornton has been so much fun. I am going to miss it desperately.”
Jo Storey will take over as headteacher at the start of the academic year in September.
