A woman who successfully battled against anorexia has set up an eating disorder support service to help others.
Emma Bacon runs BalancED MK, a group that meets fornightly in Stony Stratford.
It offers a safe, confidential and recovery-focused environment for people suffering from eating disorders.
Their partners, familiy members and friends are also welcome.
The group gives support, nutritional advice and access to counselling, says mum-of-two Emma, who has even written a recipe book of balanced meals.
“I provide one-to-one mentoring and try my best to increase general awareness and understanding about this often misunderstood mental health issue,” she said.
“I feel privileged to be part of the recovery journey of others.”
Men and women of all ages can develop an eating disorder, but research has proved the people most likely to be affected are young women between the ages of 15 and 25.
Emma’s group meets in Swifen Harris Hall, London Road, Stony Stratford on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month from 10am-12.
