THE four men accused of the murder of teenager Adil Basharat are set to take the stand on July 18.
Daniel Anderson, of Stony Stratford, Adam Moore of Cosgrove and Freddy Wilson of Deanshanger, all aged 20, will join 22-year-old Jake Batten, also of Deanshanger, in Northampton Crown Court in just over two months’ time.
All four of the accused entered a plea of not guilty when they appeared at the crown court on April 20.
A fifth man, 19-year-old Billy Billingham of Bradville, was arrested and charged on threats/conspiracy to cause GBH. He will also appear at Northampton Crown Court on May 20 where he will enter a plea.
Adil was murdered outside Kingsbrook School in Deanshanger on November 19 when he was just 16 years old.
The popular pupil was beaten with a golf club until it shattered before being stabbed with the splintered remains. He was taken to Milton Keynes Hospital but died two days later due to his injuries.
Family and friends of the murdered schoolboy have held a number of moving tributes including a march in his memory on New Year’s Eve.
More than 4,000 people have signed up to a tribute site on Facebook, and a foundation was set up in his memory to raise money for water wells in remote villages in Pakistan and for a memorial garden. Songs have also been released recorded by group Immortal Voices.
