Drivers are being warned to stay safe on the roads as Storm Frank batters MK with up to 50mph winds.

Heavy rain is expected to hit from 2pm, as strong winds move across the city.

Today Thames Valley Police tweeted: “Stay safe and eyes peeled if you’re out driving today, there may be branches or debris blown onto the roads. #StormFrank”.

Citizen reader Rose Gibson sent in a picture of a tree uprooted by the storm in Ouse Valley Park near Stony Stratford.

There are currently 46 flood warnings in force in England and Wales, while up in Scotland there are more than 60.

Winds are expected to reach speeds of up to 80mph (129 km/h) in some parts of the country today.
