Freaky fortnight kicks off at Mead Open Farm

Spiders large and small invaded a cobweb laden lair at Mead Open Farm on Thursday in a brand new Halloween attraction as part of Freaky Fortnight.

Aptly called Spiders Den, the hair-raising den includes a maze of mirrored corridors with eight-legged critters and sticky cobwebs aplenty. With anticipation building around every corner, dimmed lights and spine-tingling music adds to the drama.

Matt Heast, owner of Mead Open Farm, said: “Every year we try to improve Freaky Fortnight and now have seven spooky attractions. The Spiders Den is brand new for 2012 and includes a few scuttling surprises!”

Freaky Fortnight runs daily until November 4 and includes plenty of Halloween fun. Alongside the new Spiders Den, visitors can jump on-board the Ghostly Pirate Ship for spooky story time, enter the Haunted Castle, explore Creepy Tots Corner, board the Phantom Trailer Ride, carve pumpkins and between October 27 and November 2 win prizes in the daily Fancy Dress Competition.

Combined with Shaggy’s huge heated PlayWorld, hands-on animal activities and great outdoor play, there is so much to do on a day out at Mead Open Farm.
