Charlene Curwood, aged 34, and Kerrie Hurley, aged 43, will be tackling the 100km London to Cambridge Ultra Challenge.

Setting off from London’s Olympic Park on Saturday, the women will be walking day and night for over 24 hours, through the Lea Valley and on through open countryside to the historic city of Cambridge.

Full-time housewife and mum-of-three Charlene is aiming to raise £600 for the domestic violence support charity Refuge.

Kerrie Hurley, aged43, who is general manager at the Holiday Inn Express, Cambridge, aims to raise £400 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

It’s not the first such challenge for the keen walkers, who completed the London to Brighton Ultra Challenge last year in 26 hours.

Charlene said: “It was a big challenge.

“We’d never done that amount of miles before, but it didn’t put us off.

“We’re both quite nervous but we’re both really excited.”
