YOU may think she’s quackers but Hazel Taylor is helping to raise money for two city charities – with a 500 strong duck race later this month.
Hazel, who works at the Hungry Horse pub in Broughton, had the idea to hold a duck race at nearby Harmans Cross when she was out feeding the ducks at Willen Lake. The money will then be shared between Willen Hospice and MK Food Bank
The idea came to her after she had held a similar and successful event in the River Trent at Nottingham.
She was inspired to raise money for the Hospice after taking part in the popular Midnight Moo event last month.
She said: “That day we were dealing with thousands of ducks, but this time it will just be 500. It is mainly an event for community spirit, but also for a wonderful cause which I realised a lot of people care very strongly about.
“I have tried the course with just one duck and it took around 20 minutes from start to finish so there will be plenty of excitement in that time.”
The event will take place on August 27 at 11am and people are still able to buy a duck for the race by calling Hazel on 07974 690066 or popping into the Hungry Horse in Broughton.
