STUDENTS at Milton Keynes Academy not only scored fantastic GCSE results for themselves, but set a new record for the school too.

Provisional figures show that 77 per cent of students achieved at least five GCSEs or equivalent at grades A*-C, an increase from 72 per cent the previous year.

However, in relation to the key Government target of five GCSEs or equivalent at grades A*-C, including English and Maths, students really excelled with 37 per cent securing this, an impressive improvement of 17 per cent on performance last year.

Associate Head, Dara Carroll, commenting on the results said: ”These are far and away the best results students from our catchment area have ever achieved and there is no doubt that these results will place Milton Keynes Academy among the fastest improving schools in the UK.

“I must pay tribute to the hard work of the students and the staff in making these results possible. However, our aim and that of our sponsor, Edge, is to ensure that this represents simply the start of our journey.”

Under new leadership the Academy is undergoing a transformation and predicts a similar impovement next year, which is welcome news for students attending the Academy.
