Getting involved with city charity is easy

THE Milton Keynes branch of the MS Society says it’s a piece of cake to get involved with their work.

The branch provides vital support, services and information to people with MS, their friends, families and carers - and is run entirely by volunteers. The local branch currently needs volunteers for committee and fundraising roles to assist with its day-to-day activities.

In support of this recruitment drive, catering and beauty therapy students from Milton Keynes College baked cakes and offered beauty treatments such as manicures and pedicures, to raise awareness and much needed funds for the branch.

City MP Iain Stewart is giving the local branch his support and joined volunteers and guests at Milton Keynes College restaurant where the event was held.

Speaking afterwards, Mr Stewart said: “The MS Society plays a huge role in supporting sufferers and I was delighted to lend my support to their recruitment drive.”

“Volunteers are essential to the effective running of support organisations like this and I would encourage people to volunteer their time and skills for this worthwhile cause.”

MS Society Milton Keynes is looking for caring and reliable people who have a little spare time and such skills as: organising, ability to spot a fundraising opportunity, team working talents and importantly, a listening ear.
