British Red Cross: Community Based First Aid Educator:

The British Red Cross is seeking Volunteer Educators to deliver “Everyday First Aid” training to community groups. It seeks to leave people feeling confident they could and would do something in an emergency. They would take part in five training days giving them knowledge to deliver training sessions for the British Red Cross.

No experience is required but previous experience of presenting or teaching to groups would be an advantage. Volunteers need a full driving license and their own transport. Training will be on March 9 – Welcome Workshop, Safeguarding Children & Young People, March 11 and 12 – Everyday Skills, March 18 and 19 – Developing Community Educators for Teaching First Aid 26 March - Everyday Practical Sessions. Recruitment will take place on February 12 at the British Red Cross office in Crownhill, 10am to 3pm. Volunteers must be 18.

Bereavement Service MK: Bereavement Counsellor:

Volunteers are needed to train as bereavement support volunteers and offer support to bereaved clients either in their own homes or at Acorn House. Volunteers will build a caseload of one to five clients. Support is given to volunteers through supervision groups which meet every six weeks. Volunteers will need to be 21 at least and pay £130 for training.

Bedford and Milton Keynes Waterways Trust: Management Accountant:

They need an experienced Management Accountant to provide comprehensive reporting, advice and business analysis. Specifically to provide a simple framework for volunteer bookkeepers to use for budgets, cash flow management and monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts for both the charity and the trading company; to review draft monthly reports (cash flow, P&L, balance sheet) and highlight issues to the Directors and the trading company; to advise the trading company on business development; to work with directors to ensure the charity is using its funds as efficiently as possible, and the flows of funds between Trust and trading arm are conducted properly.

The Volunteer will need to be a member of a professional accounting body like CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CPA, have the ability to volunteer unsupervised and deliver high quality work to tight deadlines, be good at business planning, budgeting, forecasting and monthly financial reporting prepare accounts and handle the provision of corporation tax advice for the trading company, have excellent organisation and planning, drive and initiative and problem solving and an appreciation of the charity sector, and challenges.
