WE ALL love a good rummage now and then – the chance to discover a trinket or special ‘showpiece’.
At GO! towers we spend at least one week a year wandering around the Lanes of Brighton, and the awesome antique and oddity stores searching for retro-wowzers, and bizarre pieces (and we are still trying to complete our Robertsons Golly band, if anyone has some gathering dust!), writes Sammy Jones.
But there is no need to travel for goodies this weekend, when the MK Handmade & Vintage Fayre returns to thecentre:mk.
When it debuted in Middleton Hall last year, the event was transformed into a treasure trove of stalls – more than 100 in all, with unusual and handmade items bursting out all over.
“The rule is gorgeous, affordable one-offs,” says organiser Jacqui Lewis.
And the handmade goodies are just as fab and funky.
“Our talented designer-makers are picked for originality and quality,” she added.
“You can be sure the person on the stall made their wares – no bought in goods with us.
“By buying direct from the designer-maker, you get a unique creation at the best possible price by cutting out the middle man.
“With thrift being the new buzz word, our event is nothing if not purse-friendly...and you don’t have to be a die-hard vintage fan to love our exciting retro vintage, antique and upcycled stalls either.
“You can buy a unique, beautifully made item of clothing or a talking point piece of furniture.
“And these stalls are green as can be – ethical as well as economical!” Jacqui added.
The weekend extravaganza will welcome you between 9am and 7pm on Saturday, and 10.30am and 5pm on Sunday.
Bring plenty of cash, and allow yourselves the time to get stuck in.
We speak from experience!
