A day dedicated to promoting Milton Keynes as a leisure and business destination is set to go global.

Destination Milton Keynes, the official tourism organisation for MK, is holding the third annual #LoveMK Day on Thursday, April 30.

Love MK-ers are hoping to harness the pride that many people have in their city even if they no longer live in MK.

They want to spread the love across the world and get people now residing overseas to show their love for Milton Keynes. They can download the #LoveMK poster, or just get creative with the hashtag and photograph themselves getting ‘loved up’.

Carys Underwood, marketing manager at DMK, said: “Last year’s #LoveMK Day really captured people’s imagination and we had support from all over the UK; someone even cut #LoveMK into their lawn, but this year we want to push it even further.

“We’re hoping that once again the community will get behind us and get #LoveMK trending, not only to promote MK as a destination but to show how much pride they have in the place that they live and work in.”

The visitor economy is worth over £200 million to the city and by encouraging the MK community to get involved in promoting their own city, DestinationMK say it could increase the wider benefits even further.

MKFM’s Breakfast Show presenter Oliver Dean went above and beyond to promote the big day by doing a sky high pose in the city’s Niftylift Worldwide building.

Clutching his #LoveMK Day poster Oliver enjoyed a vantage point – 20 metres above the ground at the company’s new headquarters in Shenley Wood, to take in the spectacular views of the cityscape. He said: “MKFM can’t wait to officially launch #LoveMK Day on the MK Breakfast Show.

“We’ll definitely be having some fun and doing a few challenges, so get involved and remember to use that hashtag.”

Join Oliver by getting creative to show your love for MK.

Create a banner, get your school involved, paint your face, knit a jumper, bake a cake – anything to feature the #LoveMK logo.

To get involved use #LoveMK on any tweets you send on April 30 to get it trending in the UK like it did last year.
